Certificate of Occupancy
A Certificate of Occupancy is required for first use of newly constructed building, change in use of existing building, alteration of existing structure, change in land use, and change in business name or ownership. New construction and the use of all existing structures within the town must comply with the building code. An application for a Certificate of Occupancy must be submitted to the Town of St Paul along with the application for a building permit. The certificate will not be issued until the town's building official has approved the use of the building and structure or facility complies with the town's building, zoning and subdivision ordinances and the fee for the Certificate of Occupancy is paid (this fee in addition to the building permit application fee). No vacant land or building shall be used until a certificate of occupancy has been issued.
